printedinthe.uk
If you are
in the UK, and want something 3d printed in the UK, then this is the place for
you.
The
phenomenal community response to the covid pandemic 2020 has taught me the
power of the UK people working together.
The prices companies
charge for 3d printing services is disgusting. And at the same time, there are
a lot of people with these machines collecting dust.
This is a
service which matches up a buyer to a maker to get a bespoke item
printedinthe.uk
This is not
a charity. The fact is, money makes the world go round.
Makers have
to pay for materials and shipping and deserve to be paid for their work.
Most 3d
models online are not available for commercial use.
This is
because the designers deserve to be paid for their efforts and there is no easy
mechanism to do so.
From a
buyers perspective, here’s how it works.
By having
your item printedinthe.uk you get your money back if you are not 100% happy
with your item or if it doesn’t arrive.
From a
makers perspective, here’s how it works.
The minimum cost of any print is £20 which includes tax
and postage.
This would be split as follows.
£10 |
To pay
the maker for materials, time and postage |
£5 |
To
administration, development costs & refunds |
£4 |
To pay
VAT |
£1 |
tip to
the person who made the design |
Jobs will be individually quoted for, but it is
expected that most jobs will cost £20.
To test the market, this service will start taking
requests via a messages to a facebook page.
If this gains momentum, I will be looking to hire admin
staff, a web developer, and a sales person.
I am testing the water, and havent set up dedicated
email yet.
So in the mean time, email me at nick@thinkphoton.com with any enquiries.
